Your local regulatory authority may mandate that all owners of
aerobic septic systems maintain a valid maintenance contract in
force at all times. Each maintenance contract must be provided
by a maintenance company holding a Class II On-Site Sewage
Facilities or Class D license. In addition the maintenance
company must be certified to maintain your particular brand of
system. (Brand names are usually placed on the control box or
inspection lid of your system).
New systems come with a two year service contract included in
the purchase price. At the end of two years you may renew with
your current contractor or seek another service provider. It is
the homeowner's responsibility to obtain a new contract at least
30 days prior to the expiration of the existing contract.
Failure to do so may result in fines from the County of $2,500
per day. These are statutory fines that are mandated by state
law. |
